dotSHOP is pleased to introduce OWL (Open World Learning), a remote collaboration
package for corporate intranets, consumer internets, and other distributed IP-based
networks. In line with dotSHOP's network computing paradigm, OWL creates a single
web-based interface which unifies computers on multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Unix,
Javastation, etc.).
OWL combines state-of-the-art MPEG compression technology (provided through Vosaic'sİ
Java-based streaming technologies) with CGI based lesson planning, session tracking, and
user authentication. OWL's integrated classroom contains a Java-based audio/video feed, a
shared whiteboard with text support, and a chat server for two-way communication.
OWL's applications are plentiful: college students can take courses from home, video on
demand can serve training courses to corporate intranets, and business professionals can
collaborate from different corporate locations. |
